This study aims to contribute to increasing the quality of social interactions in the workplace, the health and well-being of the various healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses, operational and technical assistants, as well as the retention and quality of care provided, increasing thus customer satisfaction. This is a longitudinal, action-research, mixed-method study.
The health sector faces major social and economic-financial challenges. Client safety depends on the quality of care provided. These are affected by the quality of the work environment, which currently presents worrying indicators of stress levels, incivility, dissatisfaction, burnout and intention to leave the institution or profession. This is an innovative project, as it: (1) includes the multidisciplinary health team; (2) it integrates a qualitative component that makes it possible to enrich the quantitative and obtain crucial information for carrying out the intervention; (3) includes a six-month intervention program that aims to promote positive effects at individual, group and organizational levels; (4) it has a longitudinal nature, allowing the confirmation of causal relationships between the variables under study and evaluating the effectiveness of the intervention; (5) it encompasses the transfer of know-how from the research team to elements of the institution, allowing for a more lasting effect.
